A Smart gift at Christmas
20 December 2007
Presentation 2

The management and staff at Smart Systems Limited based in Yatton, North Somerset got into the true spirit of Christmas this year by donating £2000.00 to the Charlton Farm centre of the Children's Hospice South West.

"A lot of money is spent every Christmas by companies sending corporate cards and gifts. This Christmas we decide to do something different and use those funds to support a local charity", Eddie Robinson Smart Systems' Managing Director explains. "The idea was discussed with the staff and the Children's Hospice South West Charlton Farm was chosen as our beneficiary.  We have been privileged to meet with the staff and care teams at the centre and to learn about the care offered to children. We are proud to be able to help support the incredible work the care team at Charlton Farm do for families with children who have life threatening or life limiting conditions. We have been so moved by their work that as a company we are committing to help support the Children's Hospice South West not only this Christmas but throughout the year by organising fund raising events. This is especially important as the CHSW receives very little support from the government and is funded almost entirely from the support and generosity of the people of the South West".
The Charlton Farm centre in Wraxall, North Somerset opened in April this year in response to a growing need for additional children's hospice care in the South West.  The professional care teams at Charlton Farm care for children of all ages from all over the South West, offering planned respite or emergency care for the children depending on their individual needs and requests by the family. The centre offers wonderful leisure and relaxation facilities for the children such as a comfy lounge, quiet room, messy play area, a multi-sensory room, Jacuzzi, and a teenager's only room. The centre has eight child-friendly rooms and plenty of accommodation for families. The needs and requirements of the children are always put first by the care teams and the aim is to make the feel of the hospice a real 'home from home' for the children.
