Construction starts on Smart's 15,000sq/m production plant
19 August 2008
Despite the atrocious weather this summer, construction work has begun on Smart’s state of the art extrusion and product facilities outside Bristol.
The new facilities, totalling 15,000sq/m, will include the most advanced extrusion press and paint line in the UK.
Once completed the extension will give Smarts 30,000sq/m of
warehouse and production space, and an incredible advantage in
stock holding capacity and order response times. On top of that, by
bringing extrusion back into the UK from Europe, and by investing
in state of the art machinery, Smarts are able to reduce production
wastage, recycle paint wastage and cut down road haulage by up to
500,000 miles per year, offering a more environmentally friendly
service.
With the initial construction work scheduled for completion in
early 2009, and the introduction and testing of the production
machinery following after, these are exciting times for Smarts and
their customers.
