Alitherm and Intruder windows achieve BRE Green Guide 'A' rating
24 June 2009
Smart’s Alitherm and Intruder windows have both qualified for an ‘A’ rating under the BRE’s Green Guide to Specification Scheme.
The ‘A’ ratings achieved by Alitherm and Intruder reflect the minimal impact that the production of aluminium windows has on the environment over the products life-cycle.
The BRE Green Guide to Specification provides specifiers with easy to follow guidance on the relative environmental impacts of over 1500 elemental material specifications, with applications from walls and floors to windows and roofs.
The guide uses a straight forward A+ to E ranking system, A+ denoting least impact on the environment, through to E showing the most impact. This simple system allows designers and specifiers to make comparisons of the different building materials and systems as they compile a specification.
