Open Day Success

Over 400 customers joined Smart Architectural Aluminium for the opening of their state of the art, horizontal polyester powder coating paint line on the 13th and 14th May.

Smart celebrated the opening with a donation to the Children’s Hospice South West, a worthy cause the company is a long-standing supporter of and fundraiser for.

Smart’s ITW Gamma paint line is the most advanced and greenest of its kind in the UK today. The system is capable of painting over 200sq/m of profile an hour. It boasts a very efficient, chrome free pre-treatment process that utilises both captured water and recycled de-ionised water. The powder coating process is 98% efficient, using advanced technology to reclaim and recycle paint powder creating virtually no wastage or chemicals released into the local eco-system.

The itinerary featured informative presentations on the latest developments of Smart’s online and technical support services, demonstrations of new products including the Eco-Futural and Alitherm Parallel commercial windows, and new slim line and square edge Visofold configurations. Displaying its scars proudly was the Smart-Wall door recently successfully tested to LPS 1175 level 2 and ENV 1627 level 3.

Guests also had the opportunity to marvel at Smart’s impressive 2200 tonne Tecalex aluminium extrusion press currently being installed and expected to be completed and online this July.

“A most informative and entertaining visit”, Russell Watkins, Managing Partner, Marco Architectural Aluminium Systems. “During this period of world financial crisis, Smart’s investment in both the paint line and extrusion process represents a major statement of intent and will certainly not be lost on the industry”.

An educational and enjoyable day was had by all with guests enjoying the great weather and lively atmosphere on both days helped along by the varied hospitality activities including live music, hog roast, competitions and entertainments including a tethered ‘Smart’ hot air balloon.
