Ready for extrusion! Smarts complete installation of their Tecalex press

Smarts complete the installation of their Tecalex extrusion press.

We are pleased to announce that our Tecalex extrusion press has been successfully installed. We are now running through a rigorous testing program and on target for a production start date this August.

The extrusion press is the most advanced of its kind in the UK. Capable of extruding 10,000 tonnes of aluminium billet a year, that the equivalent to enough ETC010 to stretch from Smarts in Bristol to Perth, Australia!

The ITW Gamma paint line will paint up to 300 sq/m of profile an hour in 4m to 7m lengths. The paint line features a state of the art, 9 tank pre-treatment process utilising both captured and recycled water. The Magic Centre paint booth captures 97% of powder and recycles it, making Smarts operation the most efficient in the country.
