Over the past forty five years, Smart Architectural Aluminium has grown to become the UK’s leading supplier of aluminium systems, building a reputation both for the quality of our products and for our innovation, design and technical expertise.
In that time, we have grown rapidly, having continually invested in plant, machinery, and people, to make sure we deliver the highest quality products and support services to our customers nationwide.
Proud to wear the Made in Britain badge, our systems are all manufactured in Britain at our purpose built 60,000m2 plant in the South West of England. The most modern and efficient of its kind in the UK, the plant is home to four state-of-the-art aluminium extrusion presses and four dedicated paint lines, giving our team complete control over the whole production process – from extruding aluminium billet to delivering the finished product.
And while our reputation may initially have been built in the residential sector, with products like our Visofold doors (the best-selling bi-fold doors in the UK), we also have a major presence in the commercial sector.
Whilst it is estimated that upgrading to modern materials could generate energy savings of over £400 each year, homeowners and planners may not be aware of the wealth of materials available that could deliver significant thermal improvements, whilst remaining sympathetic to a building’s aesthetic.
Proven product range backed by experienced support team
With an extensive product range, backed by an experienced team of technical advisors, design, research and development staff, our Commercial Solutions team works with architects, local authorities, private and public sector clients, developers, contractors, fabricators and installers on projects of all shape, scope and complexity. Working collaboratively, they make sure our systems fully meet the aesthetic, performance, budget, and construction requirements of each project.
Our high-performance window, door, framing and roofing systems are proven in a wide range of new-build and refurbishment projects across the UK, spanning the complete range of commercial, health, education, leisure, retail and residential applications.
Working closely with specification and construction teams, we have delivered a wide range of projects, ranging from the Hallfield Estate, Lewisham Park Towers and Osborn Apartments residential developments to Yotel Pods, Warwickshire Police Headquarters, Oxford Business Park, Langley Primary and Solihull School projects. To name just a few!
These projects all feature different product combinations, including our Visotherm range, which offers a wide range of options for the ultimate in thermal performance and weather protection, and Alitherm 400, our latest, Part-L compliant collection of commercial window and door systems.
Innovation is in our DNA
Innovation is embedded in our business, ensuring we are constantly moving forward, leading the market and delivering solutions that continue to meet specifiers’ changing needs.
Product development can range from completely new systems and solutions to individual components, designed to address a particular problem that an architect or contractor may need to solve. With decades of experience, we can design and develop new components, frames or aesthetic features and have extrusions available for our fabricators within weeks.
For our Commercial Solutions team, this means helping architects achieve their design vision and making clients’ aspirations a reality.
Experienced service and support team
Our experienced Commercial Solutions team works closely with architects, and customers who are working with architects, at every stage of the design and construction process, providing advice and support as required.
The field-based team is supported by technical project and product experts, who with our design, research and development staff, work together to provide the right solution for each and every project.
Sustainable Solutions
As a business, we are committed to creating a more sustainable environment and to making sure that we work in accordance with sound environmental practices and in line with environmental regulations and legislation.
We are working towards achieving our objective of a carbon neutral production operation through a combination of continued investment in efficient machinery, effective environmental management systems, waste capture and recycling and the use of sustainable power generation.
To that end we recently installed a 7,000 solar panel array on the roof of our factory. This will generate 2.7GWh of green, reliable energy each year, providing 20% of our site’s current energy requirements and reducing our operational CO2 emissions by 588 tonnes every year.
We also re-use recycled aluminium and capture 98% of the excess powder used in our paint plant. We even capture and store up to 900,000 litres of rainwater to use.
Covering all the bases
