Building Information Modelling is a Strategy Objective of the Government's Construction Strategy that was published in 2011. By using computer 3D parametric modelling it allows buildings to conceptualise prior to construction.
BIM offering the benifits of 3D CAD combined with the ability to embed information such as products types and perfromances with the model. By embedding the relevant data rich information with the models provides a tool to share project information as the project progresses during construction.
The model offers efficiencies after construction and the information embedded extends with facilities managements generate and manage data about the building, during its whole life cycle.Smarts products are available as BIM models.
