Cardiff Bay Yacht Club

As part of the refurbishment of Cardiff Bay Yacht Club, Smart Architectural Aluminium’s partner, Vellacine, replaced all the building’s life-expired windows and doors. Through the installation of modern aluminium systems, the clubhouse’s performance, aesthetics, and thermal efficiency have all been significantly enhanced.

Completed in May 2025, the three-month project overcame challenging weather conditions and a constrained site to deliver a high-quality finish. A range of high-performance Smart systems were specified for the refurbishment, with the company’s Visoglide Plus lift and slide doors taking centre stage in framing the panoramic views from the club house across Cardiff Bay.

In addition to the Visoglide Plus doors, all of which were fitted with solar glass, Smart’s Alitherm 400 high-performance windows and Smart Wall curtain walling and commercial door system were also specified, with the systems all supplied in a classic anthracite grey finish (RAL 7016), to complementing the building’s elegant, contemporary design.
